Welcome to 2019 everyone!
I’m setting myself a challenge this year. I don’t know why I’m doing that, to be honest, because this year is already shaping up to be quite busy and I’m not sure if I can do it, but I’m going to try!
When it comes to resolutions, I don’t have the best track record. I’m so bad at sticking to good habits and I have nowhere near enough willpower to keep track of them.
This year, my main goal is to write more of what I want to write. I write constantly for university assignments and for our student magazine, I write constantly for placement work, but I rarely get time to actually sit and write about whatever the hell I want.
I wanted to kick start it by doing a blog post every other day in January, but there was no way I’d be able to manage that. January is a hectic month for me, with university deadlines and placements and social events, I have barely any extra time to be writing for my blog as well.
While I want to write about what I want to write, I also want it to be good content and that’s something that can only be achieved with a bit of spare time.
However, right now February looks like it’s going to be a quiet one, so I’m going to tackle that challenge then instead.
Even though February will be by far the biggest challenge, I also want to set myself little challenges for every single month this year to try and get myself back into the flow of writing for myself.
I’ve fallen so out of practice with it that even writing this feels weird! I feel like I’ve totally lost my natural writing voice that I was always so proud of!
I’m not going to share all the monthly challenges now, because I’m going to pick them at the start of each month depending on how heavy my workload is, but I wanted to share my intentions now to hold myself accountable!
Let 2019 be the year I finally rediscover my love for writing for myself.
